Founded in 2007, by MALDEF, the Texas Association of Business, and the ACLU of Texas, TRUST is a coalition of business, religious, and advocacy organizations. Together, we advocate for policies that value immigrant Texans as neighbors who are vital, productive members of our community. We urge Texas state leaders to recognize immigrants as aspiring Texans deserving of equal opportunities to thrive as they contribute to our state’s economy.
Self-serving, Divisive Politicians Hurt Us All
For more than a century, rich and powerful interests have come to Texas to divide our communities by demonizing our immigrant family members, co-workers, and neighbors while reaping billions in profits and leaving ordinary Texans with low-paying jobs, underfunded public education, and little access to healthcare.
Together, Texas Works
Texans deserve immigration policies that are fair and productive.
BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK
Every student, no matter their legal status, deserves an education and the opportunity to participate in the long-term growth of our state. An educated workforce is the return on investment for public education.
HARNESS OUR FULL POTENTIAL
Productive immigration policies can fill jobs now and power the economy of the future. Texans deserve the ability to harness the labor power of all those seeking a fair wage for a day’s work.
THE FRUITS OF OUR LABOR
Aspiring Texans come from the world over to build lives for themselves and their families. Today, just as before, immigrants contribute to a strong economy and deserve to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
HEALTHY COMMUNITIES THRIVE
Immigrant Texans were essential to helping Texas mitigate the disaster of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ensuring all Texans stay healthy, no matter their legal status, keeps our communities healthy.
TEXANS ARE FAIR AND WELCOMING
From El Paso to Nacadoches and Abilene to Alamo, Texans continue to welcome hard-working, industrious people into their communities, and quite often into their families.
DIGNITY & RESPECT IS STRENGTH
American democratic ideals demand we treat sojourners in our land with dignity and respect. To continue to be the proverbial “shining city on a hill,” we should flex our strength by embracing aspiring Texans.
There’s one thing Texans agree on:
If you weren’t born here, you got here as fast as you could.
For generations, that maxim has made our state and nation stronger. Smart, fair immigration policy continues that tradition.
